Join Helen Stutchbury for a deep immersion into the science of yoga, anatomy, and life without pain. Helen's unique philosophy presupposes that we are designed to live a long and healthy life, mostly free of the chronic, nagging aching joints and skeletal breakdown so many of us live with. Aging isn't supposed to be so painful unless we choose to ignore and avoid proper maintenance. We are a compilation of injuries, compensation patterns, and habitual actions that add up to pain - and much of it can be erased.

Over the course of three weekends, we learn a lot about anatomy, in easy, practical terms. We learn about our own pathway into pain, and the tools we need to get out of it. We learn to test others for their vulnerabilities and pain sources, and provide the right prescription for your loved ones or clients to feel less muscular-skeletal pain.

Weekend 1
The first weekend is a perfect option for anyone who simply wants to understand why we hurt, why we don't need to, and the basics of hurting less. Our weekends run from Friday evening - Sunday mid day, with a moderate pace. We have a lot to learn, but provide breaks to reflect, absorb information, and rest . The Yoga You Need is a philosophy of getting the most out of life with the least amount of pain, and our retreats are like that too.

We practice yoga and meditation, eat local/organic food, have great conversations and learn the following:
  • Alignment in fundamental yoga poses
  • How to walk, stand, breathe, and listen to the body
  • Walking Meditation
  • Anatomy and care of the feet
  • Adapted yoga poses for aging/healing
  • Understanding Anatomy: Skeleton, Muscles, Connective Tissue
  • Every Body is Different: Exploring compression, proportion, symmetry
  • Why We Hurt: Injury, compensation, physical habits and patterns, hazards of modern life
  • How to Fix it: Symmetry & Muscle Testing, Assessment and Correction
  • Anatomy of Breathing / Theories and Practices from the major yoga lineages
  • Anatomy of the Healing Body: Every system is the immune system / how it all works together
  • Chakra Alignment and Toning
  • Ethics of Yoga

Three Weekend Package
Our full 3 weekend package is for anyone who wants to help others - it is designed for yoga teachers, massage therapists and other hands on healers, and anyone taking care of injured or elderly people.

Following the foundational weekend 1, weekends 2 and 3 go deeper, with more case studies and experience in evaluation and assessment of physical injury, and the tools and techniques yoga teachers and professional healers use to make a difference. We study The Hatha Yoga Pradipika, one of the few reference books we have from the ancient yogis for total body wellness. Guest teachers present their specialties, which may include Ayurveda, pelvic floor health, practices specific to back health, nutritional guidance, Reiki, reflexology, massage, breathing techniques, specializing in trauma recovery, depression, grief or stress relief, or any of the many other strategies for healing ourselves, our loved ones, our clients from the yoga and natural healing realm.

The 3 weekend package includes a one on one session with Helen, live and online practice classes between weekends, and access to a robust online classroom full of  lively and informative discussions, articles, learning videos, and case studies.

All your training materials are included;
wonderful food is provided.
