The last week of March 2014 was a big one, and it marks the end of an amazing friendship with our beautiful dog Chili, who died on Monday from a gun shot wound, and ended with a new home for all my yoga classes, and a fantastic opportunity to practice better community. An old church has been sitting empty for several years in a great location near our Blue Hole Regional Park and local Hike and Bike Trail. I am so proud we can bring it back to life again rather than let it fall to ruin.
I'm going to document our progress with pictures and daily updates. Work schedules will be posted here daily so anyone with an interest can lend a hand.
I want to use this gorgeous space for all my yoga projects, and I want to welcome other people in the community who need beautiful meeting spaces at affordable prices. We want yoga and we want other fitness classes. We want meditation circles and writer's groups. It's going to be a natural for inexpensive, elegant weddings, a place for larger indoor concerts, art shows, gatherings and pas.
We are completely grass roots, and the costs for restoration will be steep, so we hope the community will gather around it with us and contribute if you can!
“It is possible that the next Buddha will not take the form of an individual. The next Buddha may take the form of a community - a community practicing understanding and loving kindness, a community practicing mindful living. This may be the most important thing we can do for the survival of the Earth.”
